Key components of STAR

  • Individualization

Based on the current needs, abilities, and learning style of the individual and family with best-practice intervention strategies being used.

  • Competency development

We believe that outcomes are based on understanding the personal and environmental challenges of the individual and family in order to balance these with appropriate supports to ensure competency.

  • Family centered approach

Parent and caregiver involvement occurs throughout the program and goals are based on parent priorities.

  • Team approach

Various disciplines work together with the individual and family throughout the process.

  • Assessment and outcome-based approach

Assessment provides the base for goals and objectives that are measured so that intervention can be tailored to the needs of the child.

  • Research-backed practices

Interventions that meet the individual's needs and are backed by current research will be utilized. There is not one particular intervention used in preference to another. All approaches fall under the umbrella of applied behavior analysis and systematic teaching methods.

  • Collaborative approach

Our intervention program is based on a collaborative approach. Methods will be used to interface with educational and community service providers. We believe that a collaborative approach is a key component in ensuring future success.

  • Long-term Support and Follow-Up

As needs continue or arise the child and family can access various services.
